If you created the custom field as an integer field, then you will need to delete it and create again as a text field with a width of 50.  If it is already a text field, then just change existing values from numeric to text.

Yes, it is possible, but you would first need to modify the SQL view vwCASES_ACTIVITIES to include the start date of the activity. Do you have access to SQL Studio?  Are you familiar with modifying a SQL view?

Define the custom field as a text field and use a list that has the same saved value as display value.  This is how SplendidCRM handles most status fields.

There is no administrative way to do that.  You would need to modify the source code to achieve that goal.  Depending on what exactly you want to do, the best way to implement could be by modifying the stored procedure or my modifying the C# code-behind.

Yes, but you would have to do the coding yourself.  The place to start your research is in ~/_code/SplendidInit.cs method LoginUser().
