Error with SugarCRM: Object reference not set to an instance of object

I did a fresh install of Sugar 4.0.1c onto my windows XP machine and then also installed the splendidCRM beta 2 plugin to work with Outlook2003 with business contact manager. Generally it works really really well. I particularly liked the hassle free calendar syncing and the ability to link emails to both contacts, account, case or opportunity so it appears in the subpanes of all.

When I create a new account from within the SplendidCRM plugin it works perfectly. But, when I try to create anything else: whether a contact, lead, case or opportunity, I always get an 'Object not set to an instance of object' error message. I have no idea why accounts works whereas other things do not. Looking around, the only thing that I can find that might explain things is from http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810098 which suggests:

To resolve this problem, register the Adodb.dll file in the global assembly cache (GAC). On a computer where only the .NET Framework is installed, the file Gacutil.exe does not exist.. Either obtain the gacutil file by installing Microsoft .NET Framework SDK, or create a Visual Studio.NET setup project that uses the installer to install the correct components.

My computer doesn't have the Gacutil.exe file as per the above. Not being a strong .NET or Windows person this leaves m completely in the dark and thoughts would be appreciated.

The plug-in does not use ADODB, so this solution will not solve your problem.

I will investigate this issue. It pains me to say this, but my best guess is that it is one of our bugs.

The SplendidCRM Plug-in for Outlook 2003 Beta 2 should solve this problem.

So I installed the beta 2 of the plugin and the problems I experienced with the beta 1 have vanished. Limited testing suggests it works really well so good job guys.

What versio of php, apache and mysql are you using?
