retrofit inbound email module

What, if any, chance is there to port the code for the inbound email module in 2.0 and beyond into a pre-2.0(1.4) install? We've done something similar with the reporting module to take advantage of the rdl importing but, before we start doing a ton of digging ourselves, I figured the developers may be able to let us know if there is any possibility of this working and, if so, what path we might start down to accomplish it.

It is certainly possible.  The inbound email code is primarily back-end code.

Just curious, why are you avoiding the full migration from 1.4 to 2.0?
