We have created a Live Demo (BETA) for SplendidCRM running on MySQL 5.0.

At SplendidCRM Software, we prefer HP ProLiant servers.  You might be interested to know that our demo server is running Windows Server 2003 R2 32-bit Standard Edition with Express versions of all four database platforms that we support (SQL Server 2005 Express, Oracle 10g Express, IBM DB2 Express-C and MySQL 5.0).  The specs for the hardware are as follows:

  • HP ProLiant DL360 G4p Dual Intel Xeon 3.00GHz/800MHz, 2M Processors
  • 2GB REG PC2-3200 RAM
  • U320 Smart Array 6i Controller with 128MB Battery Backed Write Cache
  • Two 36.4GB pluggable U320 SCSI 15,000 RPM drives, RAID 1

I tried to install SplendidCRM on Windows2000 with the MySQL database, but it says only MS SQL Driver is supported.

Any help/hints?

We are a 3 people company, but would like to make at least parts of our CRM system available to customers and actually also host complete CRM solutions for customers. I didn't really understand the licensing costs for that case?

The product is obviously based on SugarCRM, how far away from the real SugarCRM DB is your implementation?

MySQL support is a SplendidCRM Professional feature and we currently charge $400 per user, with a minimum of 5 users.  The price is high primarily because we do not expect to have very many customers on this platform.

The goal with SplendidCRM is to create an application that is UI and functionally identical to SugarCRM.  Our vesion 1.2 is very close to the SugarCRM 4.2 Open-Source feature set, but we have included a Reporting module and we are working on Products and Quotes modules.

As for hosting, we provide our SplendidCRM Professionals with a free Runtime License.  This license allows you to host as many external CRM users as you want, without any additional fees, so long as your internal users are properly licensed.  So, in your case, you could host 1000 or more customers for as little as $2,000.

As for your choice of database platform, we would strongly recommend that you use MS SQL Server.  Besides the fact that you will save $1,000 on SplendidCRM Professional, we can provide you with sample code that we have developed to create a new database in response to a customer purchase.

In the event that you choose MS SQL Server, you will also likely need to become a Microsoft Hosting Provider and pay them $18 per processor per month for the OS and $203 per processor per month for SQL Server standard.  Or, you could just use SQL Server Express for free until you have enough customers to justify a SQL Server Standard instance.
