Migration from Salesforce.com
Posted: 10 Jul 08 6:04 PM

I have a customer interested in migrating from salesforce.com to a solution based on SplendidCRM.  As they are not currently using all of the features of salesforce.com today, I am inclined to this this is a reasonable migration.  Are there specific areas of concern that I should consider while making this recommendation?

Thank you,

Brian

How much data are you migrating?  If there are tons of records, you might want to do some development to ensure that no fix-ups would be necessary.  For example, you may encounter a problem with the relationships not being set during import.

For one of our customers, these relationships were so critical that we had to use an ODBC utility that would dump all Salesforce tables to a local database, then painstakingly create an import script that retained everything.

Their data currently consists of about 24,000 active leads and 6,000 active customers.  There are about 24,000 inactive customers.

Their main concern for data migration is whether activity history can be migrated.

My other concern is not data migration, but simple gap analysis. Is there a document anywhere showing a side by side feature comparison of salesforce with SlendidCRM (or SugarCRM)?

Thank you,

Brian
