restrict "assigned to" field to users
Posted: 06 Jun 08 10:39 AM

I want some restricted users to be able create leads, accounts, etc.. But I don't want these users to be able to assign them to someone else, in stead some other users could assign.

As I seen any user can assign a lead to even  an admin user which I believe is not a good thing.

Is this possible by creating roles. Somehow I couldn't do it.

Thanks

That would take some difficult customizations.  It sounds like you would need to create a new ACL role action (existing actions include edit, view, list) and then implement this new action.  Lastly, you would need to create a new role and assign it to those who cannot assign.

Hello themisterx

We developed a HTTPModule that allows you to make fields readonly or hide buttons/fields from specified pages and allows you to insert values into fields from the query line, I think with a few modifications this would be of use to you, if you still need it.

The nice thing about this it doesn't modify the base code allowing upgrades as per usual, it is merely an extension to the SplendidCRM application and can be turned on/off just by editing the web.config.

I am not sure where to add tools like this to the forums.

At some point we expect to follow SugarCRM and allow access control at a field level.  For now our plate is full.
