Hello,
I'm a bit confused about the Sugar & SplendidCRM relationship... On one website, it said Splendid was a MS .Net rewrite of Sugar... When I went to SplendidCRM Open-Source 2.0 on SQL Server Express 2005 demo, it said powered by Sugar CRM.?. Would anyone please care to explain the relationship between the two? Is Splendid a port? Or is it an 'extension' that 'wraps' the Sugar system?
I tried searching the forum for the answer, but I didn't find the answer I wanted. Please feel free to post a link to a revalent thread.
Thanks in advance!
George
SplendidCRM is a complete rewrite of SugarCRM using the Microsoft technology stack. We do not consider SplendidCRM a port because we do not, nor have we ever, used any of the PHP code from SugarCRM. However, we do use the SugarCRM images, style sheets and error messages. As these items are copyright by SugarCRM, the only way we are allowed to use them is in conjuction with the SugarCRM Public License. As part of the requirement of the SugarCRM Public License, we must display the copyright and powered-by message at the bottom. Someday, we will replace the SugarCRM images, style sheets and messages and thereby be free to remove the copyright messages.
Thank you, great answer.
Any timeline for the replacement of the SugarCRM images, style sheets and messages and thereby allow us to remove the copyright messages?
We do not have a specific timeline for this issue. We have many other things that have higher priority.
Please keep in mind that you can replace the images and stylesheets yourself and then you could remove the SugarCRM copyrights, but you would still need the SplendidCRM copyrights.
