Multiple Companies - 'hosted' application
Posted: 08 Jun 06 11:11 PM Modified By murali on 6/8/2006 11:35:04 PM)

First of all, SpCRM is very very cool, given that it has the functionality of SugarCRM, albeit on a MS stack!  No more messing with PHP!

I have some questions on SpCRM.  TIA for your response(s)

  • First of all, can I deploy SpCRM as a 'hosted' application (Application Service Provider model)?  My application is not a CRM software in the true sense, but I do need a CRM kind of feature.
  • Can SpCRM support 'multiple distinct companies'?  Each company will have its own admin, who will then add users in his/her company.
  • Every company's data must be totally separated from each other
  • Can I also write custom 'modules' that all companies can see... for e.g. can I write a module that contains a list of products, that every company that is 'subscribing' to my app can see?
  • I understand that I have to get the 'pro' license in order to see the SQL.  That is fine with me.  But, is there a licensing model that I can use for my 'hosted' application?  That way, I can get one license while developing the app and add licenses as-and-when various Companies subscibe to my hosted app.

I also like the 'team management' capability of the pro version of SugarCRM.  Is there something similar to this in SpCRM??  That way, I can consider individual teams as separate/distinct companies.

Thx.

When you license SplendidCRM Professional, it comes with a run-time license that allows you to provide hosting services.  As long as you do not provide the source code to any of your customers, you do not need to pay for any additional licenses.  However, we do insist that you obtain a professional license for every user or developer within your company that uses SplendidCRM.

We have developed an internal system to allow the dynamic creation of a SplendidCRM instance for evaluation purposes.  In this case, we create a new SQL Server database, but share an existing application directory.  This would satisfy your requirement for having multiple distinct companys.  Please contact us directly for further information.

SplendidCRM does not yet support team management, but I also do not believe that team management would solve your distinct company requirement.  In my opinion, the best way to keep company data distinct is to use separate databases.

That's awesome, Paul!

Yep, my company will not provide source code to any customer.  And yep, I will get a professional license for every developer...

I think the dynamic creating of a SpCRM instance is awesome and this will definitely satisfy the requirement (instead of using Team Management).  I will take this offline and contact you guys shortly.
