I posted this in the "Best Practices" Forum because I do wish to know if anyone has a "Best Practice" for performing SplendidCRM version upgrades. In addition, I ask the following questions...
I attempted to upgrade my SplendidCRM from version 2.0 to 2.1 using the downloadable "upgrade" package from the web site. Fortunately, I am using a virtual machine and took a snapshot before the upgrade attempt.
During the upgrade, the package wanted to reinstall SQL Express again. I have SplendidCRM running on a SQL Server 2005 and have no desire to run SQL Express on this server.
Is there a way to simply upgrade the web site and database without the upgrade process installing SQL Express and/or .Net again?
Did I miss some documentation somewhere that provides a "Best Practice" for upgrading the product?
FYI... I attempted to upgrade via the web interface (i.e. Admin>SplendidCRMUpdates). This versus downloading the update file and performing the upgrade. Unfortunately, I found both methods want to install SQL Express even though I have SQL Server 2005 Standard installed.
I just wanted to add this info to the troubleshooting "pool" in the hopes the information may be useful.
Anyone figure this out yet... Or am I being dumb about something? ;-)
If you manually delete the SQL Setup folder, then the install should not try to re-install SQL. These are setup files so they are completely safe to delete.
