We have not seen that before.  Are you able to debug the issue?

No, the menus work perfectly running the code in Visual Web developer.

Even compiled, no errors such as javascript errors are reported.

Presumably its something to do with the compilation. This is quite a bad problem

I've tried moving the whole application to a different server in case it was a problem with server config but it makes no difference, the problem still exists

We are not experiencing this problem.  Please zip the compiled package and send it to our support staff for review.
