SplendidCRM is very ISV friendly.  We provide you with a royalty-free runtime as long as you follow a few simple rules.  1) You must license SplendidCRM Professional for every user or developer within your company, and 2) you must deliver the SQL code in encrypted/object form.  The same applies to the SplendidCRM Plug-in source code in that you must deliver customizations in object form.

If your customer needs access to the SQL source code, then they must obtain a SplendidCRM Professional license for each user or developer within their company.

Our Oracle, DB2, MySQL and Sybase platforms are licensed separately and cannot be distributed as a royalty-free runtime.  The primary reason for this is that these platforms do now allow the SQL code to be encrypted.

Hi,

The above is a little ambiguous - can a company only purchase professional licenses for their developers who will package / distribute both internally as well as a hosted app for external users?

Thanks!

We are trying to be as generous as possible with our license while still creating a profitable company.  The existing SplendidCRM Professional license allows you to package and redistribute a SplendidCRM application without paying any royalties so long as you distribute the SQL source code in object/encrypted form.

We are also having our lawyers draft a Hosting License that allows you to host as many external customers as you want, without paying any royalty or license back to SplendidCRM.  (On a side note, we had to send the first draft back to the lawyers because we felt that it was too complicated.)  This Hosting License is intended to allow you to create a very profitable business around CRM hosting.

In order to qualify for the Hosting License, you must obtain a SplendidCRM Professional license for any internal employee that uses or develops with SplendidCRM.  If only a couple of employess use SplendidCRM, then you can get started hosting for the price of a SplendidCRM Professional 5-pack.  And remember, the Outlook Plug-in is free to all.

Thanks for the response.

I'm a little confused about the Hosting License.  If we stick solely with the Open Source version then aren't we kinda free to implement as we see fit - including hosting for internal / external clients?

Thanks again,

Shawn
