Hi,
Has anyone done a performance benchmark of Splendid vs Sugar? Is there a perceptable performance difference on equivalnet machines running SQLServer with say 10,000 contacts? Any rough data will do. Thanks.
Would be interesting to find out, but of course if you were choosing between them you are making a fundamental technology decision. However much we may love linux and all that, for most enterprises .Net is the only viable choice due to the fact most businesses use MS Office which makes Splendid much more appealing - despite Sugar's extensive investment and marketing. Of course for hosted solutions it doesn't really matter what the backend is 9/10 the client doesn't care - they just want to get results quickly and cheaply. As soon as they wan't to do anything outside the core functionality then it all starts getting very complicated... slightly off topic but there you go.
Obviously Splenid being .Net means it compiles before it does anything - Sugar being PHP is scripted so does everything "on-the-fly" so Splendid is a bit slower off the blocks but in usage I would say is marginally quicker than Sugar although I suspect is all pretty much of a muchness at the end of the day.
The question is not really Splendid v Sugar, but .NET v LAMP
Yes, that is why I am looking at the Splendid . There is also the productivity angle for development. in .NET.
Thanks for the replies.
Although we do not have the hard data to prove it, we have experienced the following:
Put it all together and you get a noticably faster CRM. In a hosted environment, it means that you can run more customers per machine, so that makes us more cost effective as well.
It is true that .NET is compiled, and that the first time you hit a page, .NET must compile it. But this is a one-time event.
