cannot send email or configure system upon splendid installation

hi, right when i installed splendid crm on my pc, the send button of the compose email and configure settings link in the admin page are disabled. is this by default when it cannot detect a mail server?

or if there is a straightforward way to make this enabled by editing some configuration file? (and if so, which file is it). thanks

The Send button is enabled only if you have a valid email address.  Go to My Account and add a From Address.

You will also need to have the Windows SMTP Service installed and configured.

thanks. yeah that worked. by the way, in the emails section (off topic), i found out that some columns in the emails table are encrypted. like the email body, to and from address to name a few. do you reveal at least maybe the methods for encrypting and descrypting? and which class? i plan to populate incoming emails into the splendid database.
